The salt spray stung Elias’ face as he stepped off the battered ferry at Port Blossom. The town was a bruised watercolor – slate-grey buildings clinging to a ragged coastline, perpetually shrouded in mist. Seagulls wheeled overhead, their cries swallowed by the relentless roar of the waves crashing against jagged rocks. It wasn't the picturesque coastal idyll he’d imagined; it felt… older, burdened with something unspoken. He pulled his worn tweed jacket tighter around him, the photograph – a faded image of a woman with strikingly intense blue eyes – clutched in his pocket.

He navigated the narrow, cobbled streets, the air thick with the scent of brine and damp wood. The locals regarded him with wary curiosity, their faces etched with the hardships of a life dictated by the sea. He approached Mr. Silas’ Antique Shop, a chaotic jumble of nautical instruments, dusty maps, and forgotten curiosities. The bell above the door jingled, announcing his arrival with a rusty groan.

Mr. Silas, a man who seemed to have been carved from driftwood and years of accumulated knowledge, didn't immediately greet him with enthusiasm. His eyes, magnified by thick spectacles, narrowed as he studied Elias’s photograph. “This… this has troubled me,” he finally said, his voice raspy with age and the tang of sea air. “Your grandmother, Miss Eleanor Vance. A peculiar woman, she was.” He gestured to a cluttered workbench where a complex sextant lay disassembled.

“I’ve been trying to decipher her notes,” Silas continued, picking up a fragment of parchment covered in astronomical symbols. “She wasn't just looking at the stars, you understand. There was… precision to it. A purpose.” He paused, examining the photograph again. “The coordinates she provided are bafflingly specific. Pointing directly towards this coast, believe it or not.”

Elias shifted uncomfortably.
